I am a big Britney Spears fan. And though most people criticize her for her music, I still say she is the best performer that I have ever seen. She may not have good vocals like most artists do but her stage presence is just the best and that’s what I love most about her. But where is she now? Where is the Britney that most people loved because of her performances? I see news about her and it just breaks my heart to see my favorite performer in that state. I pray and hope that everything will be well soon and we’ll be seeing more of her, back where she should be, on stage.

American Idol is one of the reality shows that the music-lover audiences watched out for every year not only in America but around the globe as well. Since the show’s debut in 2002, it has produced talents that has significantly impacted the music industry. Some of the hottest and biggest names who made it to top and became major pop stars are Bo Bice, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks, Jennifer Hudson, Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Carrie Underwood and more.

The latest biz for one of American Idol’s winner, pop star Kelly Clarkson, was that her new album scrapped because the label bosses weren’t impressed with the record. I was able to know Rihanna because of her song Umbrella. I think this song gave her a very good break in the Pop Industry. She was able to make her name popular because of this song. I’m sure many people were able to make this as their “Last Song Syndrome”. Honestly. I’m one of those! I was even able to appreciate it more when I heard Mandy Moore’s version. Indeed, Rihanna, from being a newbie pop artist last year, made a big and successful step this year.

To know more about her, visit this site: top40.about.com. I liked this quote from Rihanna: “I want to give people a taste of the Caribbean, and show them the fun side of me.” As I was inspired with her profile, I’m sure you would be inspired too.

Since pop music has become a phenomenon, it is inevitable to have various awards that would recognize the talents of artists. Some of the most famous awards being given to deserving artists are the American Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and the most prestigious Grammy Awards. I just can imagine the joy of artists when they receive such awards. In fact being a part of the nominees is a privilege already. So just imagine the chance of grabbing the award itself from other nominees. Anyway, I believe that these artists all deserve to win because all of them work hard on perfecting their craft. And I believe that all of them give joy to their fans. I guess the greatest award that an artist can receive is to see his or her fan loving his or her music more.

I believe that pop music has been very phenomenal and with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Britney Spears and Justine Timberlake on the spotlight, pop music is sure to grow even more. I have been a fan of pop music myself and I can say that this type of music is very easy to relate with. It covers songs which commonly talks about love, loss, emotion or dancing. I bet everyone can easily relate to these themes. But what attracted me most to pop music is the fact that it really touches my souls and sometimes make me wanna groove to its rhythm. I also have my favorites but of course I’m still open to other artists. As long as the music is great, I guess I can’t help but fall in love with it.

Guess, who’s back on the pop music scene and top 10 charts? She is no other than Janet Jackson, one of the top recording artists of all time. Over two decades in the business, she has released ten #1 pop singles. Despite of her last two albums that were “relative commercial disappointments”, she’s back to rock the pop music world yet again with her new single “Feedback.”

“Feedback” is a hot preview of her upcoming album Discipline and it made it’s way to the ninth spot in the Top 10 Pop Songs of 2007. Watch out for Janet Jackson revitalized and in fine form. Discipline’s anticipated release date is February 26, 2008. Surely, this will be one of 2008’s best.

Pop culture has this funny way of taking elements from different subcultures and clumping them into what we have come to know as the mainstream. As a subset of pop culture, pop music is no different. Allow me to explain using hip hop as an example. Before hip hop as we know it today came into being (Kanye West, et al), hip hop was (and still is) a thriving subculture with an ethic centred on what they call the “four elements of hip hop”, one of which rapping.

Over the years, pop music has come to assimilate rap and is now an indispensable element in the pop music landscape.
Despite the naysayers, this process can actually be a positive thing. Without the constant assimilation, pop music would end up becoming stagnant. Without the constant assimilation, there would be no innovation in the form. Without the constant assimilation, pop music would lose its universal appeal. In short, without the constant assimilation, there would be no pop music.

Tune in next week when I contradict myself and tell you all why pop music as assimilation sucks.

Before, Britney Spears is one of the great names in the world of pop. Her music is always on the top hit charts. But now, everything she established before, like career, riches, fame and also beauty are all gone. Why Britney? Why?

It is true that your name wouldn’t shine forever in the lime light. Though Britney contributed a lot in the world of pop, people still continue to rebuke her. How bad isn’t it? Though she is already trying to regain the people’s support, she ends up being criticized with her every move. This just tells that a big star today can be a small star tomorrow.

It is more meaningful to be remembered for the good things done today and tomorrow than be popular today but not anymore tomorrow.

John Mayer likes his ‘Js’ – Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Jennifer Aniston – and while people may have an issue with his behavior towards the girls he dates, his music speaks different tones.

Mayer started his musical career as a member of the duo LoFi Masters, along with band mate Clay Cook. This was after he dropped out of Berklee College of Music. LoFi Masters disbanded due to musical differences, as Mayer wanted to pursue making pop songs. He was successful at this with hits like “Your Body is a Wonderland”, “No Such Thing”, “Why Georgia”, “Back to You”, and “My Stupid Mouth”.

Mayer has also slowly made a transition into blues forming an eponymous trio, the John Mayer Trio. He has also collaborated with artists outside his genre, like Kanye West and Herbie Hancock.
