Britney Spears: Back on Track?
Filed under Pop ArtistsJun 24Could this news be actually true? Britney is back on track? Reports had it that Britney is actually doing experimental stages on a new album, a follow-up to her latest released ‘Blackout’ which was out last October. Her album producer JR Rotem has teamed up with Sean Garrett to help the pop star make a comeback album. Rotem believes in her so much that he even said that Britney has the ‘it’ factor that not every artist has. And I agree with that. Currently, Britney is recovering from her troubles and is getting back in shape. The question now is, is she really ready for a comeback?

Last Song Syndrome
Filed under Thoughts on Pop MusicJun 21During the past few weeks I have been having this last song syndrome on the song ‘Forget About Me’ by Lil Bit. My officemates have been trying to stop me from singing it but they were unsuccessful. I don’t really know what made it stick into my mind but I am really so into singing it until now. Maybe the melody got me or the way it was sung but I swear I couldn’t relate with its lyrics. I wasn’t even hurting right now but somehow I got carried away. I think the singer did really great on showing her emotions through the song.

Believing in Leona
Filed under Pop ArtistsJun 18The first time I read about Leona Lewis, I was thinking ‘what do people like about her?’ So I tried researching and found out that she was a talent search winner. But even then, I couldn’t understand why people have been amazed by her songs. So what I did was listen to her song Bleeding Love but after hearing it I thought that there was nothing really special about it. I believe that song didn’t showcase her best vocals. And then I keep hearing a lot of her from local radio stations and that’s when I believed that she really has the potential. And now, I am loving her songs and even listening to them whenever I had the time.

It is true that while there are a lot of people making it to the music industry, a lot of them also wanted to imitate the other. But as for Rihanna, she wanted to be known for who she really is and not because she’s trying to copy another singer. Because of this conviction, the singer had her hair cut and actually revealed that it made her find her true self. She said that there are already a lot of singers who have long, straight blonde hair like Mariah, Beyonce, Ciara and Christina Milian and she wanted to be distinguished from them.

Amy Winehouse: Too Late for the Award
Filed under Pop ArtistsJun 12Amy Winehouse recently won an award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for her self-penned song ‘Love is A Losing Game’ but is too late to even receive her award. On her behalf, it is her father Mitch who had to go on stage and accept the 24 year old singer’s Ivor Novello award.
Reports say that the judges of the prestigious award have placed the singer’s troubles behind her so that they could give her the award. According to Yahoo! news, Amy’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently in jail waiting for trial on charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Madonna Keeps on Re-inventing
Filed under Pop ArtistsJun 9I believe there is really no one like Madonna. Even at her age right now, she still finds a way to re-invent herself and amaze her fans with her music. Every time she has a new album out, Madonna could not help but amaze her fans with her new music. And because of that I have liked her so much. She is unique and is not afraid to show what she has got. She may not be as young as other well known stars these days but Madonna’s star shines as bright as them. And maybe years in the years to come, we’ll continue seeing her setting the trend in the pop music arena.

My Cook Wins!
Filed under Pop ArtistsJun 6I know I’m kind of late but I was just so glad and overwhelmed that my bet, David Cook, won the American Idol finals. No hard feelings for the Archuleta fans, because I believe he is also great, but I think Cook deserves it more. Anyway, I am being kind of biased here so I guess my remark is not acceptable as a credible one. But I still believe Cook deserves it. At first he was the one being picked at as forgettable but he proved the judges and the audience wrong. Ever since his entry on the top 12, his performances have been consistent and very memorable.

David vs. David
Filed under Pop ArtistsJun 3The recently concluded American Idol season 7 had the two David as its finalist, David Archuleta and (my favorite) David Cook. Too bad for me I was not able to watch the showdown and the result because of busy work. However, I am really blessed that my officemates would always talk about it in the office that’s why I get a lot of news from them. So, it is finally the two David. I kind of predicted that to happen since they are the only ones who performed consistently during the show. They are both great, the only difference is Cook (I believe) is more versatile than Archuleta. Cook can sing anything, from ballad to rock to Broadway, while Archuleta is a full balladeer and sometimes some songs just don’t fit his voice. But anyhow, they’re both great and they deserved to be in the top 2 spot.
